With ten minutes to check out, I’m writing my last blog entry in India. To summarize the last ten days in one sentence, this would be it…Remember to Look Down. When traveling we are always looking up. “Everything” worth looking at, monuments, statues, picture worthy pieces of history is always up. Yet when we take the time to look down, we see the beauty of India, the people, food, children, smiles, puppies, vendors, all made this trip amazing. Yes, going to the Taj Mahal is a necessity when coming to India, but more times than not I enjoyed just meeting the people and having that interaction time. Like today, no sights were seen but my small group travel buddies finally emerged into the Delhi streets. We even spoke about how are cameras weren’t used once because we were comfortable with the area. We were Indian today, negotiating with vendors and talking to people on the street. Ten days ago, that wouldn’t had happen but today…no big deal. Looking down has helped us relate so much more to the people here. I understand that this trip needs to have a business aspect but the people to people interactions will serve us more than any powerpoint presentation can. Now I’m flattered to be called India because I have seen that the people here are warm, welcoming, and outgoing and if thats what’s how I’m perceived than thats ok with me.
